Schools and Universities
Why should schools/universities encourage their students to become Guardians of Earth?
Ever felt the walls of a classroom closing in? Remember that poster of a lion or the ranger holding a rabbit? That's often how we introduce nature to our students. But what if we could change that? What if we could take learning outdoors, making it fun, interactive, and impactful? By becoming a Guardian of Earth, students step out of the classroom and into the vibrant world of biodiversity. Through games and Augmented Reality (AR), they become active participants in global conservation efforts, understanding their unique role in preserving our planet.
How can schools/universities dive into this adventure?
Nature Realms: Think of it as a digital map of your school grounds or campus, showcasing all the species discovered by your students. It's not just a map; it's an interactive platform where students can share stories, experiences, and insights about their encounters with nature.
BioQuests: Will your school/university be the next champion in spotting or identifying species? Schools/Universities require a Nature Realm subscription to compete.
Teachers, wondering how to make your students fall in love with biology and nature?
Start by taking the classroom outdoors. Let students explore, discover, and interact with nature.
Encourage them to use the Guardians of Earth apps (like Spirits of the Realms) to add their own photos of videos of species they find 'in the wild'.
Dive deep into the Nature Realm webpage of your school or uni campus together. What species have been discovered? What's still out there waiting to be found?
Challenge students to identify species as they play Spirits of the Realms. If they are really good at it they can test their skills in the Oracle of Life.
Share the global impact! Every sighting supports global biodiversity research, as data is shared with the Global Biodiversity Research Facility.
Amp up the excitement during the regular global BioQuest competitions, for either schools or universities. Who doesn't love a friendly challenge?
Explore and share nature stories that celebrate what your students are finding and learning within your Nature Realm! Get creative in how you can use video stories to help students cement their learnings. Perhaps you might want to feature some of the most exciting finds, or maybe students will have fun creating poems, songs or dances to better remember their newly discovered species. The possibilities are endless. Every encounter, every discovery has a tale worth being shared.
